Rāwene war memorial

The war memorial gates at Rāwene Cemetery. The gates list men from the district who died in the First and Second World wars. There is also a memorial flagpole within the cemtery.

The obelisk that can be seen in the image is a memorial to John Ernest Cochrane, who lost his life trying to save the life of a drowning boy, Maxwell Carkeek Carpenter, in 1911.
