Group of Ottoman prisoners

Image

A group of Ottoman prisoners of war captured following the Battle of Megiddo, September 1918. For the first time since the war began the Ottoman Army displayed signs of mass panic and a widespread collapse in morale in the face of its defeat at Megiddo. Some 70,000 Ottoman soldiers were taken prisoner in the days that followed the British breakthrough there.
