Watersiders’ union offices, Auckland

Image

The Auckland watersiders’ union’s offices were on the first floor of the Gladstone Buildings on the corner of Quay and Queen streets. They were raided by police on 8 November, the day the specials took the wharves and the general strike broke out.

This 1928 photograph shows Quay Street in the foreground and Queen Street to the left.
