Long is greeted by the New Zealand divisional commander, Major-General Sir Andrew Russell. They inspect the 2nd NZ Infantry Brigade and other units, including the NZ Pioneer Battalion. Long is escorted by Major Peter H. Buck (Te Rangi Hiroa).
