Kaurihohore Presbyterian Church in Apotu Road probably dates from 1871 but may have been built as early as 1861. The church contains the local community’s rolls of honour for both the First and Second World Wars. Mr Davies McLeod, a returned soldier, unveiled the First World War roll of honour on 13 July 1919 (‘In Kauri Church’, Northern Advocate, 14/7/1919, p. 2). The wooden tablet is inscribed with the names of nine local men who gave their lives during the war and another 23 who served. The Second World War roll of honour lists three men who died and 15 who served.
