Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Ann Scott was born about 1854 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland – the daughter of Robert Scott, a collier, and Susanna Duff.
She married Hugh Boyle/Boll on 31 December 1873 in Stevenston and they had two daughters before they emigrated to Otago in 1876 on the Timaru.
They had three further children after their arrival, one who died in infancy, and when Ann signed the suffrage petition they were living at Shag Point in North Otago.
Hugh died in 1898 at Shag Point and Ann moved to Wellington where two of her children were living.
She died on 4 January 1923 and she is buried in the family grave in the Karori Cemetery.
