Emily Sophia McHaffie was born about 1868.

When she signed the suffrage petition Emily was living in Port Chalmers, near Dunedin, working as a photographer.

She married mariner John Douglas Lundie on 29 August 1896 in Port Chalmers and they had four children before they moved to New South Wales about 1905 where they had two more children. John died in 1911 and Emily died on 7 November 1930 – they are buried together in the Waverley Cemetery, New South Wales.
