Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Sarah Ann Reynolds was born in 1838 in Cardiganshire, Wales – the daughter of John Reynolds, a lead mine proprietor, and Ann Pritchard.
She married John Dykins, an inland revenue officer on 19 September 1859 at the parish church in Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire.
They lived in Scotland and Lancashire and they had three children before John died in 1883.
Sarah and her children came to New Zealand where she married John Guy on 11 March 1885 in Dunedin.
What happened to John is unclear as when Sarah signed the suffrage petition she signed under the name Dykins at St Clair in Dunedin.
She married John Pugh Jones, the widower of her elder sister who had died in 1891, on 17 May 1898 at Dunedin.
Sarah died later that year on 28 November – she is buried with John and her sister in the Northern Cemetery.
John re-married in 1900, he died in 1904.
