Margaret Reid / Full name Margaret Storar Reid / Birth name Thomson / Signed sheet 273 / Address Catherine Street, Timaru.
Margaret Storar Thomson was born on 13 December 1864 at Markinch, Fife, Scotland to Christina Tod and her husband John Thomson, a blacksmith.
Margaret married Robert Reid, a tailor at Edinburgh in 1882.
The couple emigrated to New Zealand with their first born daughter on SS "British King" in 1884,
settling in Sydenham, Christchurch where another five children were born over the next nine years. The seventh child was born at Timaru.
Margaret was a midwife and bicycled to visit her patients.
Robert Reid died from tuberculosis in 1911. He was fifty years old.
After she was widowed Margaret lived with her adult children.
Margaret Reid died in 1954.
