Huge crowds watched from the 'natural grandstand'. The men's eights carry their boat to the water. The men's eights lose by inches to the Australians. The New Zealand coxed fours win. The New Zealand coxed fours celebrate their victory.

The 1950 Empire Games rowing events were held at Lake Karāpiro on the Waikato River. The images show spectators on the edge of the lake, and the New Zealand eight and coxless four teams in action during the regatta.
