Although the call for 'No Maoris – No Tour' gained momentum after 1960, how South Africa selected its team was widely regarded as its own business. Beating the Springboks was still a source of national pride, as indicated in this 1965 cartoon by Nevile Lodge of Wellington's Evening Post.
