Dingwall Orphanage roll of honour

Dingwall Orphanage roll of honour

The Dingwall Presbyterian Orphanage roll of honour was unveiled in 1954. It lists the names of 32 former residents who served in the Second World War, including one woman (Miss Nyola Main). Four names are marked as killed in action: Ronald Clark, Ron Roe [sic], Graham Wells and Clutha Tasker. Fraser Faulknor, in his history of the Dingwall Trust, remarks that old boy Tim Rowe [thus] served in the Canadian Air Force, and that Clutha Tasker in fact drowned immediately prior to the war (A Legacy in Care: The Story of the Dingwall Trust, ed. Ruth Kerr, Papatoetoe, 2007, pp. 49, 63). Two Korean War servicemen are also listed, one of whom, Peter Berry, was killed in action.
