Glenn Innes state housing flats

These Star Flats (so named because of their shape) were constructed in the 1960s on the Talbot Park block in Glen Innes, Auckland. They have since been refurbished as part of Housing New Zealand Corporation's Community Renewal initiative.

Hi Paul - according to Reed's Place Names of New Zealand it is named after William Innes Taylor who brought the land in West Tamaki in 1844. He named his farm 'Glen Innes'. Regards, Jamie Mackay

Glen Innes wasn't named after a Scottish bloke called Glenn, but the fact that geographically it is a Glen, perhaps reminiscent of somewhere in Scotland, although I can't see it.
