Leigh war memorial

Leigh war memorial

War memorial at Leigh, a small settlement near Warkworth and Matakana, north of Auckland. The memorial is for the Omaha district; Omaha Bay is nearby.

The memorial is on the inside wall of the Leigh cemetery, with a flagpole beside it. There was an Anzac wreath there when the photograph was taken, so it is obviously used on Anzac Day.  From the modernity of the tiling on the wall, it appears the plaques may have been moved from elsewhere. Alternatively, the wall may have been retiled and the plaques returned to their original positions.
