Four rolls of honour are on display in the remote Matiere hall.
The Matiere First World War roll of honour lists a total of 66 men who served, of whom nine men were killed. The district's Second World War roll of honour also covers neighbouring Nihonio and lists 10 deaths and 76 also served.
The Otangawai First World War roll of honour is a hand-written and and-decorated scroll which lists seven men simply described as 'dead' and 24 others; the Second World War roll of honour lists one man who died and seven others, and also adds a J-Force name.
