MPs talking hot air in Parliament cartoon, 1935

Image

No satirist could resist the temptation to draw the obvious conclusions from Members of Parliament talking a lot of hot air in the stuffy and poorly ventilated Parliament Buildings during the 1930s. Cartoons, such as this one from J.C. Hill, frequently showed the buildings swathed in clouds of hot air.
