The Muriwai School memorial gates, erected after the Second World War, list 12 former pupils who gave their lives in the First World War (T. Apatari, W. Baker, G.H. Black, T. Carroll, H. Hape, T. Kara, T. Matenga, R. Pohatu, T. Ruru, P. Te Hau, R. Wairau and H. Waiti) and eight who gave their lives in the Second World War (W.H. Adair, M. Baker, A. Calcott, C. Ehau, P.T. Kemp, N. Pohatu, P.M. Tawiri and H.J. Wyllie). These men are also listed on rolls of honour displayed at the nearby Muriwai Marae.

I am grand niece of Taha Kara K.I.A 1918 Bertrancourt France whee he lies.
My grandfather is Te rimu Kara. My mother is Ngahuia Kara.
I plan to visit my papa Taha in France May 2019 with my whanau.
I am looking for whanau of P. Te Hau also lying at Bertrancourt military cemetery. Is his whanau still living in musical, descendants?
