Detail showing names

Memorial built in Niue to honour those who died in the First World War. The memorial is a concrete obelisk on which is set a marble tablet inscribed with the names of the 17 Niueans who died on active service. It was erected above the wharf in the village of Alofi. The concrete memorial has been replaced at least twice due to the harsh climatic conditions, but the marble tablet has been reused each time.

The field gun alongside the memorial is a captured German weapon that was presented to Niue by the New Zealand government in 1920. The building in the background is a church.
