Two war memorials at the Rangiowhia Memorial Domain, near Te Awamutu. The memorial to iwi who lost their lives during the First World War includes a tablet with the words and music to the chorus of 'Tipirere', the Māori version of the popular marching song, 'It's a long way to Tipperary.'
He roa te wa ki Tipirere / He tino mamao, / He roa te wa ki Tipirere / Ki taki kotiro. / E noho Pikatiri / Hei kona Rehita Koea. / He mamao rawa Tipirere / Ka tae ahua.
[It's a long way to Tipperary / It's a long way to go, / It's a long way to Tipperary / To the sweetest girl I know. / Goodbye, Piccadilly / Farewell, Leicester Square. / It's a long long way to Tipperary / But my heart's right there.]
