After the First World War, Mr Dale of Tūrua presented a church bell to St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church as a memorial. When church closed down, the bell was donated to the Tūrua School. Both the ‘Dale peace bell’ (as it became known) and the school’s own war memorial (a low brick wall built along the main road frontage of the school) were dedicated during the school and district’s centenary celebrations in February 1977.
