West End Rowing Club Roll of Honour

West End Rowing Club Roll of Honour

The West End Rowing Club in Auckland unveiled this Roll of Honour in November 1915. It was an impressive wooden board designed and manufactured by Club Captain F.A. Carter, a professional architect. Like many other boards unveiled during the war, blank space was left on the original board to add more names and the final years of conflict at a later date. Despite this foresight by the designer, the board had to be extended in order to acknowledge all serving members of the club. This addition to the original board was done in a sympathetic manner the board has remained a permanent fixture within the foyer of the club rooms to this day.
