The Kaitāia District High School & Kaitāia College Vietnam War Honour Roll was unveiled at Kaitāia College on 31 May 2012. It listed the names of two former students of Kaitāia District High School and 39 former students of Kaitāia College who served with the NZ Defence Force in South Vietnam between 1965 and 1974. It is believed the school contributed more young men to that war than any other school in New Zealand. The roll of honour was compiled by college old boy Richard Taaffe, himself one of the veterans listed.
