St Peter’s Anglican Church, Akaroa, has a brass memorial tablet erected by parishioners in 1904 in memory of five men from the Peninsula who gave their lives during the South African War (L. Perham, A.R. Noonan, C.E. Wiggins, E.B. Tosswill and H. Nicholls).
The church’s First World War memorial is the reredos (screen behind the altar). This is set with two brass tablets inscribed in memory of former parishioners who fell during the Great War: L.F. Armstrong, R.V. Armstrong, J.E. Beattie, R. Coe, O.E. Ferris, O. J. Jesson, L. Kearney, E. Spooner and F.A. Westenra.
There is also a Second World War memorial tablet erected in memory of J.D. Armstrong, C.F. Gracia, R. Gurney, C.H. Jacobson, D.E. Jacobson, A.L. Kingston, J.V. Masefield, R. Mould, T. Nutira, A.G. Weston, C.M.C. Wilson and T.A. Wright.
A memorial tablet above the entrance door was erected by members of the local Oddfellows Lodge in memory of Captain William Ellis, who drowned in the wreck of the ketch Crest in the harbour on 29 October 1863.
