The Mediterranean was the focus of action for many New Zealand servicemen and women. Servicemen with 2 NZEF fought campaigns in:
- Greece (April 1941) and Crete (30 April 1941–31 May 1941)
- North Africa: Egypt, Libya and Tunisia (February 1940–May 1943)
- Italy (October 1943–2 May 1945).
Servicemen of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy also served in this region.
