Emma Elizabeth Allfrey was born in 1876, Tinwald, Canterbury, New Zealand to Alfred Allfrey and Emma Elizabeth Gammon (born Eliza Gammons).

Emma Allfrey married Samuel Creed Prue in 1893 in Waimate.  Samuel was a Labourer.  They had seven children; Margaret Mary Elizabeth born 1894, Samuel Creed born 1896, Mary Ellen born 1898, Harold James born 1900, Richard Stanley born 1901, Patience Pearl born 1905 and Alice Hazel Dorothy born 1907.

The Electoral Rolls for the Waitaki electorate for 1911 states that Emma and Samuel were living in Parsonage Road, Waimate and from 1914 they were living in Opie Street, Waimate.  The 1925 and 1928 Electoral Rolls has them living at 24 Opie Street, Waimate.

Emma died on 7 January 1934 in Waimate and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery – Free Ground, Plot 0015FG000483.  Her husband Samuel who died on 21 September 1927 in Waimate is also buried in the cemetery – Methodist section, Plot 0015ME000143.
