Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Marjory Martin was born about 1836 in Dundee, Scotland – the daughter of Robert Martin, a stone mason, and Grace Gray.

She emigrated to Otago in the mid 1870s and she married Thomas Reid, a stonemason, on 23 January 1886 in Dunedin.

They had no children and when Marjory signed the suffrage petition they were living at Sandymount on the Otago Peninsula near Marjory’s niece Grace. (See 143 Grace C McGregor)

They moved to Dunedin in the 1910s where Thomas died in 1914.

Marjory died on 24 January 1916, she is buried with Thomas in the Northern Cemetery.
