Jane Thompson Bett was born in 1866 in Whanganui, the daughter of John Spence Bett, a builder, and Mary Smith.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Campbell St, Whanganui, working as a dressmaker.
She died at Whanganui on October 13th 1950, and is buried in the Heads Road Old Public Cemetery.
