Elizabeth/Betsy Goodwillie Hume was born about 1845 in Scotland.
She married Alexander Beveridge, a labourer, on 3 August 1868 in Leslie, Fife and shortly after their marriage the young couple emigrated to Otago.
They had two children and lived in Milton where Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition.
She died on 7 July 1895 at her home in Helensbrook, near Milton.
Alexander re-married the following year, he died in 1904 - they are both buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
