Margaret (Margaurite) Wallace Binnie was born in 1871 in Dunedin, the daughter of Alexander Binnie, a bricklayer, and Mary Wallace.
When Margaurite signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Maori Hill, Dunedin.
She married John Patrick Desmond, an engine driver, in 1905.
They lived at Greymouth and Te Puke, then in Auckland where Desmond died in 1953 and Margaurite died on June 5th 1954.
They were both cremated in Auckland.
