Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Leslie was born about 1815 in Scotland.

On 14 August 1855 in Port Elizabeth Cape Town, South Africa at the 'house of Mr Leslie' 39-year-old Margaret married 25-year-old ship’s carpenter David Crabb.

They had one daughter (See 117 A Low) and by the 1870s they were living in Dunedin.

David died in 1883 and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living in Maclaggan St, Mornington.

She died on 28 March 1896 in the Benevolent Institute in Caversham and is buried with David in the Southern Cemetery.
