Mary Crouch was born in 1870, the daughter of Alfred Crouch and Caroline Beavis.
Mary’s parents married in 1864, Caroline bigamously when she absconded with Walter Alfred Crouch and a quantity of her first husband’s money and jewellery. Both Alfred and Caroline were sentenced to two years hard labour. They didn’t marry again but had a total of six children when released from prison, Mary being the third.
Mary’s mother died in 1884 and in 1893 Mary was living with her father in Castle St, Dunedin.
Mary died on 1 November 1933 in Dunedin and is buried in the Southern Cemetery with her father.
