Isabella Gordon was born about 1857 in Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand and she married James Farquharson, a farmer, on 3 January 1882 in Oamaru
They had nine children, one who died in infancy, and when Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Ngapara in North Otago.
In later life they moved to Oamaru where James died in 1926 and Isabella died on 25 February 1944.
They are buried together in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
