Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alice Maria Fox was born in 1869 in the Queenstown Goldfields – the daughter of William Graham Fox, a police constable, and Letitia Smith Wightman (See 354 Mrs William Graham Fox).

When Alice signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Earne St, Invercargill.

She married James Lawson, a farmer, in 1894 – they do not appear to have had any children.

Alice died in 1945, her place of death and burial is not known.
