Catherine Juliet Fulton was born on 23 September 1862 at West Taieri – the daughter of James Fulton and Catherine Henrietta Elliott Valpy. (See 77 Catherine Fulton)
She grew up on the family farm 'Ravenscliffe' near Woodside on the Taieri Plain.
Catherine married Rev Robert Rose Mackay Sutherland on 13 April 1893 at the Woodside Mission Hall. They had eight children and lived in Kaikorai in Dunedin until Robert retired.
Two of their sons died in the First World War.
In later life they moved to Wellington to live near one of their daughters.
Robert died in 1931 and Catherine died on 14 July 1946, they are buried together in the Karori Cemetery.
