Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Marrion Chisholm was born in Scotland about 1843 – the daughter of Benjamin Chisholm, a spirit dealer, and Mary Darling.

Marrion emigrated to Otago about 1865. She married George Miller Galloway, a tanner, on 4 June 1868 at Ardochy Cottage, High St, Dunedin.

They had ten children and when she signed the suffrage petition Marrion was living with her family in Dalry St, Dunedin.

George died in 1900 and Marrion died on 28 November 1927. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
