Ann Selina Lovell was born about 1829 in Guernsey, Channel Islands, the daughter of Thomas Lovell, a cabinet maker, and Ann.
She married George Grigg, a coach painter, in 1851 in St Saviour, Jersey, Channel Islands. They had at least seven children before they emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Scimitar.
One more child was born the following year.
When she signed the suffrage petition Ann was living with her family in Dalry St, Mornington, Dunedin. Her daughters Selina and Louisa also signed the petition.
George died on 8 December 1898 at their home “Honeyden”, William St, Mornington. Ann died at home the following day. They were buried on 10 December in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
