Catherine Biggins was born about 1831 in Scotland.
She married George Hamon, an carpenter, in Victoria, Australia in 1854.
They had four children, one who died in infancy, before they travelled to New Zealand about 1862.
Three more children were born in New Zealand and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Jones St, South Dunedin.
Catherine died at her home on 29 April 1896 and George died in 1911, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
