Elizabeth Marshall was born in Scotland about 1843 and in the 1870s she was living in New Zealand and had two daughters.

She married Robert Vantill/Vantile in 1888 and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Pine Hill, Dunedin.

In the 1900s the family moved to Oamaru where Robert died in 1901, he is buried in the Oamaru Cemetery.

Elizabeth moved back to Dunedin and she died there on 21 August 1918, she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
