Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jessie Agnes Inglis was born about 1869 in St Louis, Missouri, USA – the daughter of Robert Inglis, a gardener, and Agnes Campbell both natives of Scotland. (See 128 Agnes Inglis)

Her parents brought the family back to Scotland in the 1870s and, in 1874, the family emigrated to Otago on the Invercargill.

They settled in Port Molyneux where Jessie signed the suffrage petition.

Jessie did not marry and sometime after her father’s death in 1906 she moved to Dunedin where she lived with her sister Mary. (See 128 Mary Inglis)

Jessie died on 18 May 1955 - she is buried with her sister in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
