Sarah Ann Ladbrook was born in Gloucestershire, England in 1850, the daughter of Thomas Ladbrook, an agricultural labourer, and Catherine Abbitts.
She had a son early in 1877 and she married Reuben Jackson later that year.
The following year they emigrated to Otago on the Piako.
They settled in Palmerston where Sarah signed the suffrage petition and they had 7 children.
Reuben died in Dunedin in January 1921 and Sarah died later that year on September 9th at her daughter’s home in Invercargill.
They are buried together in the Palmerston Cemetery.
