Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Clementina Russell was born on 2 October 1845 in Mid and South Yell, Shetland Island – the daughter of Robert Russell, a blacksmith, and Elizabeth Laurenson.

Clementina married Laurence Jamieson, a seaman, on 20 December 1866 in Shetland, and they had one daughter who died aged four weeks.

They emigrated to New Zealand in about 1877 and settled in Riverton. Laurence died in Riverton in 1884 and Clememtina then moved to Dunedin where she lived with her sister Lizzie

Clementina died on 4 May 1928 at Stafford St, and she is buried with her sister and mother in the Southern Cemetery.
