Agnes Stirling Johnston was born in 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Johnston, a farmer, and Elizabeth Brown. (See 106 Elizabeth Johnston)

When Agnes signed the suffrage petition she was living on the family farm 'Rosemains' at Pureua.

In later life she moved to Gisborne to live near her sister Elizabeth.

She died on 20 March 1923 and is buried in the Taruheru Cemetery.
