Amelia/Minnie Pearce Kerr was born in New Zealand in 1869, the daughter of Andrew Kerr, a draper, and Julia Marion Pearce. 

When Amelia signed the suffrage petition, she was living in Russell St, Dunedin. Amelia's sister, Marion Martell, also lived in Russell St and signed the petition. 

Amelia married Frank William Ault on 15 April 1899 at St Barnabas’ Church, Fendalton, Christchurch. They had three children.

Amelia died on 5 August 1935 and Frank died in 1948. They are buried together in the Waimairi Cemetery, Christchurch.
