Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Maggie/Margaret Dwyer was born about 1857 in Ireland.

She came to New Zealand and had a daughter in 1882 before she married Joseph Lefeber, a labourer, in 1884.

They had two children and when Maggie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Glenomaru in South Otago.

Joseph died in 1901 and Maggie re-married in 1902.

Her new husband was James Wilkie, the widower of Jane Ann Farquharson, with eight children. (See 106 Jane Ann Wilkie)

They lived the remainder of their lives at Romahapa where James died in 1939 and Maggie died on 23 May 1941.

They are buried in the Romahapa Cemetery.
