Marion Helen Steele MacGoun was born about 1847 in Germany - the daughter of Duncan Malcolm MacGoun, a merchant, and Catherine Steele.
Shortly after her birth Marion’s family moved to live in Greenock in Scotland.
Around this time her father died & a few years later the family emigrated to New Zealand.
Marion married Robert Park MacGoun, a clerk and possibly her cousin, on February 4th 1875 at Knox Church, Dunedin.
They lived, at first, in Hokitika before moving to Invercargill where Marion signed the suffrage petition in Earn Street.
They had 6 children.
Marion died at her home on July 9th 1901. She is buried with their son in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
Robert moved to Carterton in 1906. He died there the following year and is buried in the Clareville Cemetery.
