Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jane McCurdy was born in 1872 in New Zealand – the daughter of John McCurdy, a contractor, and Elizabeth.

When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother in Andersons Bay, Dunedin.

She married Alexander McMillan, a farmer, in 1899 and they had one son.

They lived at Momona on the Taieri Plains where Jane died on 14 July 1933.

Alexander died in Dunedin in 1945 – they are buried with their son in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
