Sarah Reid was born about 1850, possibly in Scotland.
She came to New Zealand, then married William McDougall, a blacksmith, in Dunedin on September 10th 1868.
They had 12 children, and when Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.
Sarah died at her home on July 17th 1926 and William died in 1933. They are buried in the family grave in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
