The signature of ‘Mrs Meads’ is believed to belong to Elizabeth Mary Gray. Elizabeth was born in County Armagh, Ireland, on 26 April 1852. Her parents were William John Gray and Mary Irma Lazare. Elizabeth had 15 children with farmer Zechariah Meads, however they were never married. Zechariah had previously been married to Elizabeth's mother Mary. Elizabeth's eldest daughter, Zoe, also signed sheet 511 of the petition. Elizabeth died in Paraekaretu on 13 March 1920, aged 68.
