Jessie Glass was born ca 1840 in Kinross, Scotland. She married Andrew Moncur in 1863 in Kinross and the couple had seven children; John (1864-1908), Jane (1866-), Mary Anderson (1867-1929), William George (1869-1951), Jessie (1871-1937), Andrew (1874-1922) and Thomas (1877-1960). In April 1883 the family (apart from John who immigrated to the USA), arrived in Auckland on the Rangitiki as assisted immigrants. Andrew was a bootmaker and the family lived in Wynyard Road, Parnell in the 1890s and by 1905 were living in Mary St, Mount Eden. Jessie predeceased her husband on 16 April 1912, aged 72 years. She was buried at Purewa Cemetery.
