Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Blackie was born in 1865 in New Zealand, the daughter of David Blackie, a carpenter, and Agnes Grey. (See 61 Agnes Blackie)

Margaret worked as a pupil teacher for a few years at Ravensbourne School before resigning in 1882.

She married Jesse Isaiah Minn, a builder, on 30 April 1885. They had three children. When Margaret signed the suffrage petition, the family were living in Rothesay, West Harbour, Dunedin.

They later moved to Duncan St, Dunedin where Jesse died in 1935.

Margaret died on 21 April 1944. She is buried with Jesse in the Andersons Bay Cemetery, Dunedin.
